Digital Painting: The Woodsman and His Catch

This animal is neither mouse nor rat nor shrew. I'm not exactly sure what it could be or if it even really exists somewhere. The pose was taken from a few animals I found while trolling the Creative Commons library, changed around and features were exaggerated to capture the qualities of all three animals above. Just a fun little piece with a story. A good lesson in conservation of our beautiful forests and jungles. You never know what you'll find within them. Treasures untold.

A forest ranger delicately picks up a small woodland creature that he is unfamiliar with. Carefully, he holds the gentle beast within a towel and offers it a great feast as he studies it from all angles. The stillness of the forest is eerie to some, but comforting to the woodsman. Is this some mutation, hybrid or perhaps some creature long thought extinct?
