This is 'Olivia' and she is a Costa Rican Macaw. They are a race of birds that is both beautiful and nearly extinct in their habitat. I drew this picture VERY late at night. I couldn't sleep. It's one of the perks of being pregnant and having heartburn. It gets very inspiring to randomly troll the internet for conversation projects and also the Creative Commons libraries for poses and subjects. So I drew this parrot.

I goofed up a bit on her body anatomy. It fades too much in my opinion. I gave her a leopard print cap on her head and added rainbow effect to the original B&W line-artwork. I wanted to make this look grungy, and also have a watercolor aspect to it as well. One of the pains of this picture was also her beak. I am pretty pleased and think this is one of the better pieces offered in my gallery.

I also like the message behind those pleading, helpless eyes. There are so many macaws in the pet trade that the wild genetics are really not needed. We should leave well enough alone and let the poor parents raise their chicks in piece. There is also not enough habitat for them as well. Something to keep in mind.
